FERGUS WITH CUPCAKE

Today I'd like to show a card that I made just for fun...its not often I get the time to do this but I've taken advantage of the bank holidays and a few extra days off from work.

I was having a scout round the other day and saw a challenge over at Cupcake Inspirations and thought I'd have a go. The inspiration was a really pretty cake with a princess and a dragon in greens and purples and this is what I created.

The image is Fergus with Cupcake,  a Wild Rose Studio stamp. The papers are Doodlebug and I've coloured with Promarkers.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenge:-

A CARD FOR MY DAUGHTER

As I was giving my craft room a bit of a tidy at the weekend I came across quite a few bits and pieces I thought I'd lost or I'd just forgotten about...I found a few cards that I had made ages ago and me being me had put them in a 'SAFE' place...so safe I couldn't find them again.

I started this blog with the intention of recording my crafting story...so today I want to show a card that I made last year for my daughter's confirmation...(which I'd put away in a safe place and thought I'd lost...)

I knew she would be given a lot of traditional cards and I wanted something a little bit different but couldn't find any stamps I liked so in the end this is what I came up with and she loved it...

The papers are BoBunny and the image is a Sugar Nellie~Gorjuss stamp. I've coloured her with Distress Inks and the brads and spacers are from The Hobby House. I made the flowers following a tutorial that I found on the Craftwork Cards blog...this was sometime last year, can't remember when exactly. The punch is a Martha Stewart punch.

SPOTS 'n' STRIPES

This is a card that I made for no reason other than 'just having some fun' and then later realised I could actually enter it into a challenge...

I was having a bit of a tidy up in my craft room this weekend and found these Doodlebug papers that I had forgotten about. I had already coloured the image...spot the mistake...(pointed out by one eagle-eyed daughter)...only after I'd photographed and uploaded the card...I might add.

Being a perfectionist I wanted to remove this card and correct my little mistake but have decided against it and I'm just putting it down to artistic licence...

The image is a Wild Rose Studio stamp...Fergus with Tulips and I have coloured with Promarkers.

ACTUALLY FINISHED IT...

A few weeks ago I spent the day at The Hobby House learning how to make this birthday book with Kim and yes I have actually finished it. The times I go on these craft days and don't finish the things that I have started...saying "Oh I'll finish it at home"...and the poor unfinished project sits around waiting for me to get my act together...well this time I have FINISHED it and here it is...

Each month has its own page and there is pocket to keep any cards you have made in advance safely...yeah yeah like I'm that organized...NOT...but you never know I might just one day get around to making family cards in time and not leave them until the very last minute.

The papers and stickers are BoBunny...I love these colours. The brads and ribbons are all from the kit that Kim provided except the little glittery letters spelling 'birthday' on the front which were from my own stash and  I used the stickers provided by Kim and various punches I have a home to decorate each page individually.

Thanks Kim for a lovely day and a beautiful, useful birthday book.

I WON

I was thrilled to bits the other day to win Vicky's blog candy of Vixx Handmade Cards.  It arrived yesterday just in time for my days off and this is what I won...

Thank you Vicky I'm sure I'll have great fun creating with it.

This is a card I made using a Molly Blooms stamp...

The papers and card are a mixture from my scraps stash and I've coloured with Promarkers. I made the flower using a Magnolia DooHickey Flowers die and the brad and spacer are from The Hobby House.

LAZY BUNNY

Today I have a card that my mum asked me to make for a friends birthday.  I seem to use this stamp a lot.  I bought it along with two other Penny Black stamps after seeing an article in a magazine by Bev Rochester many moons ago and hopped out to The Hobby House to buy them straight away.

I've been lucky enough to attend a few card making classes with Bev of  All The Things I Love at The Hobby House  and I learnt so much...Thanks Bev.

For this card I have used papers from the V&A Inspired Hanoverian paper pad and I've coloured with Distress Inks.  The flowers, brads and ribbon are from The Hobby House.

PUPPY LOVE

Today I have the other two cards that I made for my nieces birthday this week.  I cheated with the first one as I made it quite a while ago, but as she recently got a puppy I thought it would be perfect...(yes I know your 17 now Chlo but just humour your Auntie Debs x)

The flower was made using a Marianne Creatables die and I cheated again and used a Sarah Kay decoupage image.  I can't remember what the papers are or where I got them...bad girl. (further note to self...write down which papers and stamps used for each card).

The last card I made was for my mum to give to my niece...

The bunny image is from Lili of the Valley and the papers are Basic Grey.  The colours look a lot brighter than they actually are (David Bailey I'm not) and the bunny image doesn't look straight but I'm putting it down to artistic licence, thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Have a lovely day.

APRIL SHOWERS

Another girls card...this is one of three cards that I made for my nieces birthday, (not all from me of course).

I'm not sure why I picked these colours but I quite like how it turned out.  This is a Molly Blooms stamp that I bought a few weeks ago and the papers...yes you guessed are Basic Grey.  I've coloured her with Promarkers and think I might just be getting the hang of them.   The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the Hobby House.

I've just noticed that the little brolly charm is a bit skew-whiff but never mind, too late as card has gone now.

Having problems with Blogger...I can't see my followers on my blog or anybody elses followers on their blogs...any ideas what I've done wrong or if  Bloggers just misbehaving?

BUTTERFLIES

Here is a card that I made for a birthday last month.  I was horrified as I missed the actual date, my only excuse being that I'd been unwell and had lost track of dates...that will teach me, I will have to try and make family cards earlier and stop leaving them until the last minute.

As is my norm lately I went for Basic Grey papers and a Lili of the Valley stamp.  I coloured with Distress Inks...no matter what I colour with I never seem to manage to colour animals very well....will just have to keep trying.

Note to self...try something other than a square card.

FINALLY...

At last the chance to make a card for a girl...thought I'd forgotten how to make cards for girls after all the boys cards I've made recently.

I was asked to make a birthday card for a little girl and thought this cute Magnolia image was perfect.  I had the buttons and the Basic Grey paper pad on my workdesk from a previous project so thats where the inspiration for my colouring came from.

I've coloured with Distress Inks and I seem to have got a thing about Stickles just lately as I've developed a habit of putting it on every card I make.

BOYS BOYS BOYS

We had a really nice day today with lots of lovely spring sunshine.  This morning we walked the dogs at a local beauty spot and my daughter and her friend came with us....after a cooked breakfast of course.  We also managed to do a spot of Geocaching.

Anyway to my cards...There was me saying how difficult I found it to make cards for boys and it appears that I have done little else just  lately.  Here are the last two boys cards that I was asked to make for my friend...

Again I have stuck with my favourite Basic Grey papers and as usual Lili Of the Valley came to the rescue with the stamps.  I have coloured both cards with Distress Inks.

RASPBERRIES AND CREAM

It seems that in our house we have a thing about cupcakes and not always edible ones.

This is a cupcake that I made following instructions that I picked up at The Hobby House.

It was really fun to make but I ended up incredibly messy...glue everywhere.  I used paper for the cupcake base from Making Memories (note)worthy collection...one of my favourites.  The roses, ribbon and lace were from The Hobby House and Wild Orchid Crafts.  I was really pleased with how the chocolate flake turned out too.

The best thing of all about this cupcake is...NO CALORIES.....

GOAL

I have a friend who has three little boys.  A few weeks ago she asked me to make her a batch of cards for boys birthdays (which I always seem to have difficulty with). Luckily for me she wanted some cards with little footballers on as her boys are football mad.  Thanks to Lili of the Valley this was easy. These are two of the cards that I made.

Both have been coloured with Distress Inks and I've used papers from Basic Grey.  Not sure about the grass effects but I'll work on that.

BABY BOY

I was asked recently to make a card for a new baby boy.  I don't know why but I always seem to struggle with baby cards, especially boys (you'd think it was easy with all the lovely papers and stamps available).  I have even more trouble when it comes to mens cards.

Anyway I went for something simple...I had a stamp from Lili of the Valley that I hadn't got round to using which fitted the bill perfectly.

I found the papers in my scrap box ( left over from a previous project) and I painted his little blanket to match one of the planes on the paper, I think I should have gone for the lemon option rather than the peach, but the recipient liked it so that was ok.

GIANT STRAWBERRY CUPCAKE

This is the Giant Strawberry Cupcake that my daughter made for me for Mother's Day.  I knew she was up to something when she got up unusually early (for a teenager) on Saturday morning to go to her Nan's and this is what greeted me when I went to pick her up.  Its absolutely beautiful and smells lovely.  I'm thrilled to bits with it and don't want to cut into it.  It was a very cautious drive home I can tell you....would have hated Brogan to get strawberry frosting all over her face and I think she would have cried as she spent so long making it.

This is the card I made for my mum...

The stamp is from Penny Black, the papers are from the Basic Grey Marjolaine paper pad.
I've coloured him with Distress Inks and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the Hobby House.

This is the card I made for my boyfriend's mum...

Again this is a Penny Black stamp, the papers are a mixture of Basic Grey Origins and Pinkpaislee Queen Bee paper pads and I've coloured with Promarkers.

LUCKY CLOVER

This morning I'd like to show the ATCs I made for last month's swap over at ATC Swappers.  The theme for March was MAKE IT GREEN (in honour of St Patrick) so obviously it had to start with GREEN.

In my scrap box (which is full as I never throw anything away),  I managed to find some green glittery card and the only other thing I could think of was a lucky four leaf clover, so thats what I did.  I made the clover from four small punched hearts and just arranged them in a flower shape.  The stamp I found, after rummaging around in my stamp box, didn't know I had this stamp....

I haven't been making ATCs long but I enjoy receiving my swaps as its really interesting to see how others interpret the theme

My Fancy Noteholder

After making my Lilac Fairy card the other day I had a few scraps of paper left over on my desk, and me being me decided not to waste them...sad I know...I really liked the colours and spied a large peg thats been sat around waiting for me to do something with it...and this is what I came up with.

Now I have somewhere safe to keep my notes.  As anyone who knows me well will tell you,  I have lists for this and notes for that...I'm afraid it doesn't make me anymore organised though.

I bought the peg at Ally Pally last year.  The papers are left over Basic Grey Euphoria pieces.  The flowers are from various places including Wild Orchid Crafts.
